I'm in Canada but grabbed the equivalent 100U88N and it's amazing. Makes my 77 inch Oled look tiny

Wonder if this 100" u8 is worth the extra $700 over the U7 100" Costco sale right now?

The u8k has a brighter screen and better local dimming (so better overall contrast and color volume). The u8 has 5 speakers (including subwoofer) built in and the u7 has 3 (including subwoofer).

If you are watching TV/movies in 4k HDR, you will be able to tell a difference between the two models side-by-side because of the better brightness/dimming on the u8. If you are just using the TV for normal things, you honestly will never be able to tell the difference.

Both the u7k and u8k are rated highly (with the u8 rated a little bit higher). The u8n would be the TV that is a step up from the u8k, but you can only get up to 85" in the US (Canada has access to the 100" u8n).

The TCL QM7 (2024) seems to have similar specs with a better processor. The main complaint with this tv seems to be sports processing. Thoughts?

I'm debating between this and the 77" lg g3.

I keep reading about the VRR stutter issues, is this as common as it appears, do y'all experience that issue?

We do a lot of streaming via apps, have an extensive collection of movies on Plex(on Nvidia shield), and gaming with Switch, PS5, and Xbox X.

I know the two tvs are completely different beasts, this being brighter with slightly better colors, but lagging in blacks performance. With my current tv dark scenes such as in Dune and Game of Thrones are unbearable as they are so dark everything looks washed out.

Our viewing angle is mostly straight on and the tv room is almost never completely dark.

Due to issues with my eyes, my main concern is the vrr issue.

Doubt it. Some people said this dropped to $2500 last year for a very short period of time - probably was a glitch.

The 85" (2024 model) is $2200 new, so $3000 for this seems like a decent sale price
