WARNING!
STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS TRASHY DESIGN! THESE SUBS WILL FAIL ON YOU! ITS NOT IF BUT WHEN.

I bought a pair of these 2 years ago and they didnt even last a year before failure. They both failed about 2 months apart. I replaced both amps under warranty and one has already blown. The other is making loud crackling sounds and already needs to be replaced. I dont turn them up loud and they live a gentle life. I saw the good price and bought them based on the Klipsch brand name... HUGE MISTAKE!!!!

So read this comment and the dozens of others who got screwed by this crappy design and avoid it at all costs.
Nope. This one is still known to be bad; the RP series have a 5y warranty and are more likely to last
Great deal, but these amps can blow

These are the newer subs though. They didn't change the amp?

The newest are the RP line with a 5 year warranty. These are not the newest.

I jumped on this back in May at $450 and have been very very pleased. Paired with Klipsch RF-82 II.

Ironically, I just watched a Friday night movie and noticed my SPL-150 possibly not working again.

I logged into my email to check when submitted my first warranty request to replace the amp and saw the notification for this thread pop up.

So yes, the amps can definitely blow.

Oh ok. I thought these were the new ones. Never mind then. Thanks for your reply.

I have this sub and indeed my amp blew after maybe 3 years? I reached out to Klipsch and they arranged a replacement amp to be sent to me at no cost, though it will be another month before it arrives.

I'm just curious as to how much they are even making off of these with free shipping. The thing is beastly and comes in an enormous box.

All of that said, I like mine a lot and wish I had room for a second. It's a ridiculously huge sub.

Buy them and make warranty request for the amp with new amp from Klipsch before the warranty for this sub expires, you don't have to wait until the amp fail push it to the limit until failure and after you are fine with 400$ good sub

I currently have an SVS-PB100 (non-pro). How much of an upgrade, if any, would this be?

Also, any thoughts on a dual sub setup with two different subs? My AVR has two sub outs and Audyssey for bass management, but I don't think it supports independent settings for each sub.

Theater room is 15' x 12'.

A friend bought one of these shortly after they first came out. He plugged it into a remote switch plug. It has no power until switched on. He's not had any issue with the amp. I finally decided to give it a shot for 400 bucks. I plugged both my 15's into switched plugs, both on the same setting, cost for both was $10 on sale at Menards for in/outdoor(similar indoor at Amazon). They are grounded plugs and 10 amp output. I push one button, both amps get power but only come on when they get a signal, set at auto. Works fine and takes 1 second on 1 off. For me it's a reasonable solution, ymmv. I'll add that if all else fails I have several powerful amps with adjustable settings I would just use outboard if the originals fail.
