In 2022 these were on sale for $239 but the older version. Is this new second generation any better to pay the $40 premium or is it just inflation of 20%?

This is no way comparable to 504c sound quality, but that thing is huge. So unless you have space constraint for for 504c II when on sale around 329.

Have one. If you need a smaller center this is excellent, especially compared to the Polk S35 I used to have.

Its not going to be as good as a bigger speaker with bigger drivers, but for what it is it's pretty good.
