Great watch and a decent deal. But I expect we will see more like this because they now have the Fenix 8 and this is the non-pro version so it's now two generations old.

Love this watch. This deal is only $50 more than the best price ever (back on Prime Day), but still a really good price. I upgraded from a Fenix 5 Plus Titanium (2nd gen) and this watch is so much better.

Definitely want to turn off the AOD, as it does eat battery. But the turn wrist to look at the face always turns it on.

I agree and you're right about the weight. IMO, watch weight is an important factor when choosing a watch especially if you wear it all the time.

I need reading glasses, now, too....so these amazing watch and phone screens become less and less useful as they tiny fine details become un-see-able.
I found a watch face, for this garmin, that keeps everything I need big and clear. Mine is this watch, so it is 47mm, I'd be perfectly happy to go much bigger though! The bigger watches don't get deals nearly this sweet.

I got the Epix Gen 2 non sapphire version from Sams Club when it was $350. it's an excellent fitness watch, bare minimum smart watch. I'm enjoying all the metrics it provides; the running program is pretty good for being included and I am surprised how well it could track a weight work out for reps and figure out what movement I was doing. Overall not sure I would want to go to the sapphire version for $150 more but if I didn't have this watch I would be looking at this deal.

I bought this watch on Prime day. It's been excellent. I'm a pilot and found the altimeter, barometer and compass are extremely accurate. Lots of great features that I use daily to track my health. Battery life is great.

Unfortunately, you have to step up to the Gen 2 Pro for the 51mm. I want that but I got a normal Gen 2 for $350 on the Sam's Club deal.

For me, I get 5 days, always on display...1-1.5 hours a day of GPS. I also keep it on my wrist for sleep tracking.

I also have an Apple Watch Ultra. AWFUL battery life. If I use it a full day and sleep with it, it'll be around 40% when I wake up the next day. Battery health is still 97%.

The big plus for the Epix is the battery charge rate. I don't even use a dedicated USB charger. I plug it into my computer's USB port and even that puny bit of power delivery will get 50%+ charge in 10 minutes. It's awesome. The Apple Watch Ultra charge rate is laughable.

I'll probably grab an AWU 2 when the price drops further. I do miss having a dedicated cellular service on my watch. I'd love to leave my phone at home.

I have the non-Sapphire version of this watch and am mostly happy with it. The two-week battery life is the most you can expect when you do not use AOD or any of the power-using features. Most days I use music/bluetooth while biking and the swim app to track pool laps. I also have the O2% turned on while sleeping. The watch battery still lasts about seven days. So much better than the one or two days for other smart watches.

FWIW I have noticed that the altitude measurement is laughably inaccurate at times - unless I really am regularly jumping up over 25,000 feet. 🤔 But not an issue for me.

I also find that connecting the watch for charging is awfully finicky. I bought one charging puck that failed immediately. If anyone has found a solid connecting option please let me know. 👍🏻

If I were in the market now, I might hold out for the Pro version of this watch (or similar Garmin model) with the upgraded biometric scanner.

Also sounds like you have touch screen on - turning that off helps optimization. I have Bluetooth on 100% of time, pinging cell every 5 minutes (cgm on screen), battery saver off, etc. and I get almost 15 days if I run it to empty. Touch screen annoys me anyway and goes wonky when its wet.

That being said I hardly ever run it all the way down, and always have a solar charger on me on longer packing trips anyway. I feel like I never know when something will drain it faster, like searching for satellites or more screen time or whatever. I get "empty tank stress" so I hardly let it go to ever 25%. Put it on a charger for 10 minutes once every like 8 days is enough.

Agree on sleep tracking - its never been a strong feature with this watch.

I understand if you want touchscreen on all the time and I agree wrist flick works 75% of time. My workflow for reference: If I fast press the upper left "Light" button that will wake up the watch, fast pressing the button again turns the screen off. Holding the upper right "Start/Stop" button will toggle touchscreen on and off when you want it. So if I am hiking/running I usually only toggle touchscreen for map usage then turn it back off. I learned this behavior when I got it a couple years ago - I do not really know what the impact of battery and touch screen being on all the time are but I assume it effects it.
