FWIW nov 2023 the 18 was $199.99 (the previous year, 2022 it was 279.99) from bestbuy, unless you're *really* desperate wait another month and some change for cyber monday before buying an external drive...

Wasn't that one of those deals that was for BB paid membership or one that was extremely short lived?

I feel like that previous deal gets brought up a lot and was a unique situation

Absolutely no idea other than neither of those purchases I mentioned required paid memberships as I've never been a paid member of BB. (according to my bestbuy account my order for the $199.99 one was placed Nov 17, 2023, previous one was Nov 11th 2022) but running a search on the forum for WD easystore and then looking at the results from nov 2023 in reverse order I see: a 199.99 ebay deal with 7 TU at from 11-18-23 at that price which didn't require membership ( https://slickdeals.net/f/17075134-wd-easystore-18tb-external-usb-3-0-hard-drive-black-199-99-free-shipping?v=1&src=SiteSearch ) and the more popular 207 TU one that also didn't require paid membership that was posted 11-16-23 with another person on the 19th saying it was still that price (but orders were delaying due to stock see page 13 of the post) https://slickdeals.net/f/17069239-18tb-wd-easystore-usb-3-0-external-hard-drive-200-free-store-pickup?src=SiteSearch

Searching back further: What you're conflating is the early access for paid members that was posted in October of that year for a limited time that I didn't remember:
https://slickdeals.net/f/17019532-my-best-buy-plus-total-early-access-18tb-wd-easystore-external-usb-3-0-hard-drive-199-99?src=SiteSearch
"Additional Information:
This offer is part of Best Buy's Early Plus/Total Members Black Friday deals valid through the end of October 29th, after which the offer becomes open to everyone on October 30th at 12am Central Time."

But really, NFC other than that. However what I'm saying is a price sensitive person would *need* a drive now to buy an external drive (or most hardware / appliances that go on sale for black friday) from BB in October that isn't labeled a black friday deal (I think their wording is lowest price through black friday or something like that, but it's been a year since I saw it)

I'm personally waiting to buy two of the 18+ drives when (or I suppose if) they drop for BF/CM

Hope that helps

Good info & thanks for the detail!
Does anyone know what kind is inside?? I know the Drive inside the WD Elements drive that is on Amazon is a white labeled drive that is comparable to a red. These Easystore Drives have the word "black" in the title. Does that mean the Easystore drives have a black drive inside them?
