I got mine with the stand from the previous deal. Already used it to make some cuts. After a few adjustments, it's 99.9% square, as good as you can get with a miter saw.

You can mod it easily to get a shadow line. All you need is a led, usb cable and a battery pack. There is some videos on youtube. You don't need to buy the $100 expensive kit to mod it.

The blade that comes with the saw is decent. Did pretty good with my 2x4s and test cuts. But if you want cleaner cuts with less tears, definitely get a better blade with a higher teeth count.

I don't think you can get a better miter saw for this price.

The part you reference has been resolved by Dewalt about 3-4 years ago, and replacement parts were provided to the owners at no charge under a recall. None of the saws sold today should be of any concern.

Tempted at this price, but some pretty concerning reviews regarding the plastic rear guard exploding. Even a recall, and some mentions of post-recall parts still exploding.

EDIT: I see it was once on sale at this price with an included free stand, so guess I'll just hold out and see if that deal ever comes back, don't have an immediate need for one.

You can also add the shadow light as an aftermarket kit for $118 + shipping, and that's still less than the 780 model. I added it to mine and it took about 20 minutes to install. You can get the kit here: https://www.mmtoolparts.com/miter...kit-dewalt

Is this model a lower end, middle of the road, or higher end model?

I have this saw since 2021. The plastic rear guard broke even before the recall for me due to a small piece of wood got flying. But after changing to the metal guard, I have no issues since. So for casual DIYer, this is the great saw, especially at this price. And if you can add light as fellow SDer posted, then you will be set with a great saw. My $0.02, hope it helps!

That's BIN price if you're in the market for it. Keep in mind that the sliding saws require a ton of space behind them on the workbench. I'm actually selling this exact saw for that reason, and buying a non-sliding version.

Can you send a link to which one you are buying ?

Id say it's a high end model. I have the DWS780. The model above this. The difference being the led for your cut line. However you can modify this saw to add that feature.

To resolve any concerns with this, someone I know, not me, was doing something stupid with their saw. This not me person had a dried out piece of cedar branch that needed to be trimmed up for a project that I, I mean they, had been working on. As expected, the saw started the cut and partway through grabbed the wood and flung it into the saw and causing the wood to explode everywhere. The saw is still 100% fine and no damage to it. So I would agree that this is not a concern.

I've got this and installed on Rigid AC9946 wheeled stand since I want to easily move it from my workshop closer to house instead of walking back and forth, or wherever. Added measurements left to right & right to left on fence with adhesive tape (1/32) thick tape) measurements via Amazon of course. A laser light would be nice, but not really a fan of the 'shadow light' and my cuts are fine eyeballing it to 1/16"…the blade cutting is a fraction off anyhow unless you recalibrate it after each move.
