Not the lowest but good discount from a reliable seller & better if you're a member!
It powers 11 channels internally, process 13 and supports sub integration up to 4 independent subs out of the box.
You also have access to A1EVO, only cost is $20 Editor app which is a must have anyways.

If after all that you still feel you need Dirac, both(DL&DLBC) are available and you pay as needed.
Having compared the two, that's unlikely especially for the high cost of Dirac imo.
Looks like Amazon has matched the deal.

This price should be the everyday price.
more, S&S has it for $2499.
13 channels, 6 height(Atmos) placements & supports up to 4 independent subwoofers out of the box, nothing at this price!

I like my 4k blu rays, I have a Panasonic ub820, and a slightly older lg nano cell tv.
Currently in a small apartment with a no drill rule, and have a 2.1 setup.
When I move somewhere bigger in a few years, and buy more speakers, will I have any reason to regret not getting the x6800h instead of th x4800h, aside from 2 fewer channels, or are we heavily in diminishing returns territory?

Depending on your speakers and environment the power benefit can easily be mitigated using the preouts/external amps.
On the flip side. the only main benefit to the 4800 over the 3800 is power, the same applies.
You might consider this.
Since you won't need this new receiver for a while, maybe start a budget with the money and just add to it as often as you can until you actually ready.
1st this technology changes quickly and who knows what will be available years from now.
2nd speaker quality makes much more difference in sound quality and who knows what speakers/layout you'll need/want then.
Spending most of your budget on that will make a bigger difference imo.
Even if this or the 4800 was what you wanted, it likely will be less as open box/refurb/used in the future.
My two cents, good luck.
My main reason for picking th x4800h over the x3800h, at that sale price, was the additional flexibility on HDMI ports, using it as an HDMI 2.1 switch with audio benefits.
I know futureproofing is a cursed word, but with 4k120hz already being close the maximum my eyes can benefit from at an appropriate viewing distance for any size screen, looking at this as almost an endgame avr with no further upgrade path that I can imagine.
I'm upgrading from a Marantz nr1504 that was holding back my PC / consoles.
Sounds like the x6800h is definitely not worth it for me, 9.4 channels will be enough, I've never had more than 5.1. If any speakers need an extra power amp, it'll probably only be a couple channels.

The 3800 just hit $999.
If you prefer Marantz and open to refurb, you could get the Cinema 50 for the same price as the 4800.
You still lose that 7th hdmi but gain Marantz sound.
Marantz had a 25% off their refurb & currently AC4L has it for $1500 with a 5 year(1/4) warranty.

I'm thinking this may go down a bit lower approaching or around BF.
