More everyday-use 14in laptops please
Yes, and yes it can be easily turned off. It could potentially be useful if you're buying it for a technologically inept person like an older parent who only browses facebook but otherwise the first thing I do is turn that junk off.

Could anyone who owns this laptop comment on whether the placement of the Power button next to the Delete key causes issues with accidentally powering off when trying to delete something? (I know someone recently posted instructions how to disable function of Power on/off button in Win 11. BTW, if the laptop is powered down via software, does the Power on/off work to turn the laptop back on?)

Also, I've read that it's not easy to access the BIOS setup on this model. True?

I own a similar laptop with the same keyboard layout,
but mine has a numberpad so the power button is further on the keyboard.
it never causes an issue cause I don't use the number pad generally,

you can make the powerbutton to turn on, or to put the laptop to sleep. ( I think that's what I have)

Is "S Mode" that stupid thing that makes it like a Chromebook and disallows installing anything not from the app store? Can it be turned off?

I have a very similar laptop that I got from Amazon last year for $200 and it has same keyboard layout. I had the issue that you mentioned, and I have to set the computer (via windows setting) to do nothing when clicking the power button by accident instead of delete.

Thanks for your comment. How do you turn the laptop back on if the power on/off button is set for do-nothing?

There's an option to turn off "S" mode if you go through the Microsoft App Store. A websearch will give you a short tutorial how.
You can also turn the mode offline, but it's a bit more complicated and requires fiddling with the system registry which I don't suggest people do unless you're very technically proficient because you can easily screw things up if you don't follow the instructions exactly.

That option is valid only when windows is running. You would still use the power button to turn it on.

I haven't had any issues with this. You have to hold the button down for a long time in order for it to power on or off. It's not just quickly press the button and it powers on/off.

Just a heads up, this is the exact same model that microcenter has below (my local location is sold out currently and not available for online shipping)

https://www.microcenter.com/produ...quiet-blue

It has a TN screen but not the worse TN screen. Bought it myself for my father at an insane price which I will not mention for it will make people jealous (there was a coupon so I stacked sale price plus coupon.) I wish my dad would actually use the device more since I bought it for him a month ago, but he is being slow with moving over from his windows 10 laptop to the new one.

You can disable what happens when you press the power button, from power off to do nothing. Then just power it off by going thru the start menu. You can also create a batch file on your desktop with shutdown.exe.
