The USB C thing doesn't bother me at all for something like this. I have a number of gadgets / tools that have micro USB ports, including a rechargeable Dremel so I'll have some of those cables around at my workbench for years. It's not like this would need fast charging.

Note that if you only use something like this occasionally, Dollar Tree has some pretty bright battery-powered ones (especially if you already have a bunch of free Harbor Freight AAA batteries laying around.) https://www.dollartree.com/product/327607

Yeah, for people who are kind of clumsy and / or fumble around with things like that, USB C may be needed. It's of course a better plug overall but far from essential, especially for occasional-use products like this. Many of us have been using those plugs with devices for years and haven't broken any. There's a certain knack for plugging them in that becomes almost second nature after a while.

These are absolutely worth $5 each. I have 4 of the black ones and they are real bright and the different white light settings are nice.

That's why I don't buy off brand rechargeable electronics. 3rd party sellers have been rampent on Amazon now but you can still buy from a reputable brand

USB-C is must have for those headlamps. I took apart lots of headlamps and the weakest point is the charging port. Most premature failure is the broken charging port. One-way USB (mini or micro) can be easily damaged because of plug in the wrong way.
