If you look at the comments you will see people who can't stand in-ear headphones. This is a good compromise. Yes, it will not be as good as a sealed headphone but I tested it in an Apple Store and was surprised how well it worked.
The only in ear buds that have worked for me so far are Airpods 1 and 2. I tried Airpods 3 and found them to be uncomfortable. Also tried Airpods Pro 1st Gen and those were not comfortable as expected as I can't stand bids with tips that are jammed into your ears.
Based on your experience, looks like I should just stick to my Airpods 2s. Have collected a bunch of those for super cheap from deals on SD, most recently for just $50 and change from Meijer.
Was tempted to try the Airpods 4 due to ANC, but don't need to spend $150 when I am perfectly happy with my Airpods 2s.

Tried these when they were $89 for the non-anc version and I just couldn't get them to be comfortable for more than an hour unlike the airpods 1's and 2's. That said, I don't like most in-ears and wear just Shokz instead. I did just get the Bose Ultra Opens to try them out.

I paid $110 for the Logitech G FITS and they've died in just a year :| They turn on but just won't pair. I need to try to find the dongle to see if they'll still pair that way. They fit super well even if the audio quality wasn't as good as the airpods pros.

these seem dumb, as you will never get very good ANC with an open ear design without a silicon bud. why pay extra for ANC when they are wide open.

I don't know what apple was thinking. Why change a good design.

When was the regular AirPod 4 only $89? Is it still available?
