About 3 years ago they had an 8pc. set with a reciprocating saw instead of the fan for $200. It's a decent set for home use. It's just crazy the mark up in that time. Also came with the choice of a free tool, I can't remember all of them that was the choice, picked up a grinder. I wonder if they will have anything like that again.

Which is better - this deal or the Kobalt (4-Tool Kobalt 24V Brushless Power Tool Combo Kit + Choice of 2 Free Tools) deal for $250?

The specs on some of these tools are no joke or a a complete joke. 1500 in/lbs on the impact, 12000 opm sander is up their with the big boys but your hand will probably go numb with the sander. The 1500 rpm drill, 8000 OPM multi tool, circ saw at 3800 rpm, 140 lumen light are pretty trash. 2x 1.5ah batteries won't help that saw much. Good if you're wanting to do your first YouTube garage build and want to see what your appetite for DIY is, but I'm gonna cancel my order after looking at the specs. These will make my DIY weekend take more than a weekend.

I am also a new homeowner and I am tempted to get this however.....

I don't see myself needing anything but maybe the drill.

I am not planning on doing any renovations where I would sand, impact drive, use a circular saw nor a jig or oscillating saw and not already having a fan or a flashlight.

I don't believe my dad has much of this and he's owned for 35 years.

Gonna have to pass

Majority of people will never use that many. I feel most people would be better getting just an impact driver and a drill set (can be had for around 100 dollars for impact driver and drill with 1-2 batteries)

Is the 6 tool for 199 similar to this 8 tools package . The only difference I see is the battery type . Or this set is lower variety compared to the 6 tools combo . Also are any of the sets brushless. Tried the ryobi 6 tool sets combo set in the past and the difference is high between the skill brushless compared to the ryobi regular models . Debating to go with this for more tools compared to the 6 tool combo or go brushless with kobalt system for 250.

Depends on what you would want to do, but as a gift id recommend the Bosch 12v drill and driver combo. I own a set and give it heavy abuse

Kobalt. This set is 10+ year old technology. AND, batteries are cheaper with Kobalt.

That drill your trashing drilled me some 3/4 holes thru 1inch thick steal plate. Have had it for over 3 years now in a machine shop setting and it honestly hikds it's own with the Milwaukee stuff the company buys. Totally agree on the 1.5 Amp hr batteries I got 4s and they do good, even the skillsaw
