It's 8, name brand tools for $150. You're talking like it's Ni-Cd batteries. Nothing wrong with these tools for the average homeowner/DIYer.
Looks like a very good deal for the average homeowner. I bought a similar set from the Homedepot Ryobi line 5 years ago and it has held up well. Too bad that the batteries on these things are not interchangeable.

I would see if you can find an adapter. People are 3D printing adapters now and I have used several. For example, I have a Dewalt battery adapter for old 19.2 craftsman tools that I use occasionally.

Decent deal on mediocre tools. This is decades old technology, and Craftsman brand to boot. It's like buying a 2014 KIA that's still on the showroom floor.

Sure they are. All kinds of battery adapters on Amazon.

Lots of tools for little price, but I don't trust craftsman to not abandon this battery line. "Craftsman" (under it's various previous and current holding companies) has had at least 3 20- lithium battery formats. Most brands (except Ryobi) changed formats when upgrading from ni-cad to lithium. Craftsman has a 20v line, a V20 line, and a "bolt-on" line (black and Decker comparable). All of which are incompatible with each other.

Nothing wrong with these tools. I've beaten the craftsman line pretty well and it's been holding up fine. I have not been disappointed in any of the v20 line.

The price is like the same as just a Milwaukee drill. Obviously it's not a top of the line set but it definitely gets the job done.

This kit needs a sawzall.

Exactly when a Tool brand changes batteries every few years it's hard to keep track of what is what. I'm not in the Craftsman ecosystem so i did not know that 20v, V20 and Bolt-On are all incompatible, i would have found that out the hard way. I say this because it seems all of those 3 batteries are still for sale. Compatibility between brand names is a different story.

I don't mind tool lines switching up battery styles, once a decade is fine, wish Ryobi would upgrade theirs, style of batteries. But all they have done is add tabs on some of the new higher output ones but the style remains the same.

This is a great deal for a starter kit. Especially they give you fan, light and a sander which a lot of other combo doesn't include and charges an arm and leg for.

Good deal for what you get. Will need to upgrade the batteries cuz the 1.5s are basically useless for the skillsaw and oscillating tool they'll be dead after 3 minutes of use. Saying it from experience

This. And once you buy the 4 Ah batteries to make those saws useable, you'll have spent enough $ to buy some Real tools instead of these ancient Red-badged Porter-Cable tools.
