Knives, in general, should not be considered dishwasher safe. Hand wash only, imho.

Not trolling. Honestly, curious as to the reasoning.

Seems like a good deal, if for nothing else, just to cut loafs of bread. In for 1.

Speckled trout, too, but I like one with a pointed blade.
It's good for separating the skin from the filet, yep. Makes it hard to screw it up. Pointed is fine, but I mainly use it for safety so I don't get stuck. Catfish are good at poking you already, so minimizing that with a knife is also helpful.

The previous post nailed it, pretty much.

No serious knife maker would ever recommend putting their knives in the dishwasher. Even if you have one of those that has a separate tray for knives (so they don't bang up against things), I'd skip using it for that.

I've been lookign for one of these for cutting foam. The price is tempting but do you think itll be stong enough to cut EVA?

IDK I just got a Cuisinart refurb one for free on an ocean state job lot crazy deal ($25 and 100% back in store credit) and I just used it TG to cut my turkey.
It kinda seems like it doesn't like to be used for long periods at a time.
I could smell motor and it seemed like it was slowing down or something after a little bit of use.
I think it needs a cool down period and it's not meant for long sessions
