I'm a solo player and have been since launch, it's amazing. You don't need friends and the community is great. Randoms will work together and there isn't any griefing to speak of.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank blancorunning
Also. I made 2 really great friends on it through random matches who I play this and other games with as well. You never know what could happen.
For people considering buying this:
This is primarily a 4 player squad based, 3rd person shooter. While having a dedicated group of friends is recommended, it's no problem at all playing as a random in other groups. The community is great with very little toxicity (it tends to be in games with the highest difficulty which is Helldive 10).
The game does have premium currency with a microtransaction store, but the currency can be found on maps simply by playing the game. Other than the initial purchase price, I have never bought any packs and have almost all premium pack content. Map layouts are procedurally generated with different objectives per map.
Just as a warning the game can be a bit grindy, but there's enough variation (especially with the release of the third faction) so that it doesn't feel too much like a chore. Also, everything in the game has friendly fire so it pays to be aware of your teammate's positions before firing. Expect to die... a lot... It's part of the game.
I game with two other friends consistently but we hate it when we have to have a rando in for games.

It'll work with 3. Difficulty scales with number of players in squad. You can open your game to a 4th random, and they can drop in anytime. You don't have to wait for a full squad.
That's really only true if you are doing like the 9 or 10 difficulty, where you need to be sure people wont flake out on you, and that there are even enough people to want to try it.

It could be, but I would be willing to bet it will jump back to $30 once CDKeys sells their stock, it will probably drop again in the spring when they do pre summer sales. I bought a week ago at $25.49, and almost regret not just paying 30-32 in previous sales because of the amount of playtime I am getting out of it.
It's not a game to buy if you think it will just drop to your backlog (which is what I figured it would do when I waited on it previously. I also have a family member who plays co-op matches with me)
