I've had two of these drives break off my keychain and almost lost all my data. The first, a plastic model, broke after six months. So I upgraded to the metal version, which broke after just two months. I switched to the faster and much more rugged Samsung Bar drives, but those lack a built-in USB C port.

I would never trust buying a high capacity usb drive off of Amazon. Too many knock offs that look identical to the original in the same bin as the originals. It's easy to make cheap drives look legit in bios and you won't know until you exceed the actual capacity and lose your data.

Although this is a smaller form factor, I think a better deal is just to buy a cheap 2TB or 1TB NVMe drive and a cheap M.2 to USB enclosure from Aliexpress.

Many tools exist to test and verify the capacity before you use them.

Fake flash test or h2testw. Just make sure you test it before you use it as it's going to wipe everything on it.

I wonder when we'll see enclosures for the smaller (steamdeck size) ones

Samsung has their software called Magician or something like that. It checks that the SSD or Memory cards are authentic Samsung and not fake ones.you can still use hwtest to check for capacity. I would still avoid Amazon anyways. It is just a headache having to deal with returning the fake ones and having to wait for them to ship you a replacement.
