If you can get by on the MS app ecosystem, this is better than most laptops in its price range. But if you might have generalized requirements, this would be asking for trouble.

Price is excellent but 300 nits would be my biggest nit.

staying away. sorry qualcomm.
Is this due to software support/compatibility or an issue with qualcomm?

Most software runs. Games being the main exception, but any laptop of this price is not a gaming laptop.
Most people run a browser for the majority of what they do, and browsers are all native to ARM.

This is a good price for what it is, and the majority of people would be oblivious to it being a different processor as most stuff just works.

You can get the Asus Lunar Lake laptop for 50$ more and all your software will work.

Or you can support this failed attempt at innovation and deal with random failures all over the place.

I'm waiting on the Surface tablets to hit rock bottom. I wouldn't mind a 500$ Surface on my desk.
So you'd rather pay $500 for random failures?

For the people thumbing down others who are questioning a Qualcomm PC:

What does this computer get you over a Chromebook if it's 'just for web browsing'?

I own a 2 year old laptop with a Ryzen 5600u , which almost every laptop with a 13th gen or newer i5 or i7 is equivalent or better. It can do everything a desktop can, and can play a plethora of games at mid-to-low settings. Unless you're a hardcore gamer or video editor, there's nothing about my laptop that is a sacrifice, and it even has good battery life.

Windows sucks as a tablet or touchscreen device. It absolutely is not optimized and does not have even the basic of apps to take advantage of the whole flip aspect.

The display while high resolution is only 300 nits. I'm sorry, but that's about on par with budget IPS displays. Sure this will look a lot better for other reasons, but it's not a killer display that's worth dying for or spending considerably extra on.

If you just wanted a value laptop that's fairly portable, there's constantly sub $500 laptops on sale here with an x86 processor. Or just check eBay - there's loads of laptops both used and new that fit that mold.

If you just want a lightweight and fast web browsing machine with a nice display sub $500…get a Chromebook.

The ONLY person this is useful for is the niche person that needs full Microsoft Office capabilities beyond the web app and cannot use Google's ecosystem instead, isn't using any intensive or legacy applications that may encounter comparability issues, and really needs that long battery life above all else.

It's fairly niche. Most people would be better either:
- getting a Chromebook
- get an x86 laptop with a slightly worse display
- spend a bit more to have your cake and eat it

Can anyone comment on whether the Prism emulator has gotten better after recent updates?
