FWIW, this looks like a nice machine that I'd consider buying at this price. Not like rush out but this is nice machine for the right audience.

The first "knock", aside from being ARM, would be the PLUS processor. It's the lowest they offer in that lineup. But, at this price....

Screen looks to be better color gamut than the Envy models that are floating around....

Yes, screen is better. Also, although HP advertising this as 300 nits panel, almost all the reviews pointing out that it is a lot brighter than that, almost 380 nits.

FWIW, the "PLUS" processor is faster than the Intel Ultra 2 256V in GB6 multi-core and just about 10% behind in single core, so it's no slouch. Sure, the Elite X would be nice, but those have not entered the <$600 realm yet.

That said, the Asus Vivobook S 15 was $499 lately with a 2.8K 120Hz OLED display and Snapdragon X PLUS CPU.

Looking for something for the wife. We currently use a 10+ year old I3 PROCESSOR WITH 8GN RAM AND I SWAPPED THE OLD 5400RPM HARD DRIVE FOR AN sSD about 4 years ago. The thing is still snappy quick but it was $299 back then so it's outdated, no touchscreen and large (15.6").
Wanted something we could potentially take on a Trip which this would be good.
My only thing is the ARM. It looks like much better battery but I'm concerned with performance with windows 11 and also legacy software. She sometimes likes to put old software onto things and play really old games. I'm guessing this wouldn't allow it?
I was also considering the HP envy with the ryzen 7 processor.

They are different machines but I obviously have to cross shop. Both are same size and run windows and will allow her to Amazon shop as well as run MS office.
Any suggestions/recommendations? I was hoping to stay in the sub 500$ range but doesn't seem like many 14" in that range without going to Asus/Acer brand things.

Need to consider printer driver compatibility given this is ARM. I had difficulty installing drivers for a Canon MX922 multi-function printer/scanner/fax/copier. Windows 11 Home recognizes the printer but the driver just would not install. I eventually returned the laptop.
