Man with recent announcement from Onkyo about how they are refreshing/rebranding or whatever, I'm thinking new releases might be right around the corner.
Trumps tariffs are also a point of concern though, and deals won't be had on brand new items for awhile after they release anyway.
I think I might wait anyway, I've got a 5080 that needs to be purchased here soon.

Not sure there is much they can refresh/rebrand to this they haven't already done over the new RZ30 or RZ70.

Most people only really use/need 9 channels, if you need 11 you go with the RZ70.
The only real differences is power but that's what pre outs are for.

Depends, the RZ50 can process two extra channels, 20 more watts & less expensive right now.

The RZ30 is much newer, has two independent sub outs and more expensive.

They both include the same Dirac & both have the option to DLBC.

This unit has a non bypassable protective circuit that cuts back the output power significantly say the bench test reviewers. So the rated power is never achieved. Hard pass.

I purchased an Integra drx 3.4 for 579 a few weeks back. Then I was able to get an open box Rz50 from Best Buy for $405. However that came smashed, so I'm sending it back. Other than more outputs which I don't need, is there any advantage to the RZ50 for me to spend almost $200 more for it? I'm using an 5 ch external amp so the power difference is irrelevant to me.

You should read the thread on AVS forum thread with actual owners who say they are using 4 ohm speakers with no issues. Some have owned the unit since 2021
https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...3/#replies

But if you are a hard core high level bench test type of person, I HIGHLY recommend the RZ70
Audioholics says its the best AVR under $3000
I say the best under $3500
https://www.audioholics.com/av-re...-tx-rz70-1
Comparable to the Denon X6800 according to audioholics and AVS forum members and at significantly less money

I personally own the RZ50 and the RZ70's sister unit..the Pioneer LX805

There is a HUGE difference in the two...but the RZ50 at this price is a solid deal in my opinion

I run the RZ50 in a small/mid size room with bookshelves and one sub and its great

No...would be my opinion...since its looks like you are just going with a 5.1 system?
The Integra has a 5 year warranty to boot

One would assume Onkyo/Pioneer/Integra has made a lot of money on these units that are now almost 4 years old
Thats an amazing stint for a non-flagship product from an Asian manufacturer

For me, the reason to buy this is the 3 zone support. This seems to be the only product line that supports it that I can find
