I still have $2000 worth of sw gift cards from Costco from more than a year ago. Their flights selection isn't great and prices always much higher than what I can find somewhere else.
Although their routes changed a couple of years ago, southwest is still our go to airline. For a family, the included baggage fees are great. That probably is factored into the cost, but for a family of 3 or 4 who check baggage and car seats, it's worth it and more convenient for us. They also accommodate family boarding and (gasp!) pre boarders well. Unless you're headed to Hawaii, Florida, or Vegas, you probably won't run into anyone abusing the pre boarding system.
Yes this a rant because my wife hated southwest based on a recent solo trip. She told me it's because someone cut her in the boarding order and was rude about it. That's not southwests fault. Other than that one lady, the flight and experience was great.
Anyway, sucks that this deal isn't "buy $150 of HEB gift cards and get $25 free "
