You are mistaking the intent of the purchasers of these knives. These are intended to be safely tucked away and held in reserve for the SHTF day when civilization collapses and the knife collecting prepper can trade one of these beauties and a 5 gallon bucket of freeze dried chili for the nubile daughter of his starving neighbor.

I love benchmade's, but they can go pound sand with their ridiculous pricing.

I used to buy expensive EDC knives, but found that I was always afraid to lose or damage them, so I would never carry them. I've been an outdoorsman for over thirty years and have never encountered a scenario where I've thought to myself, "Wow, if only I had a $300 pocketknife instead of my $30 knife!"

not bad, but they are still overpriced.

Aside from that, I'm not sure if I would want to follow some of their recent endorsements politically.. especially if one supports 2A.

I didn't downvote but if you think Benchmade is the best auto you need to spend some money and see other brands. Benchmade is certainly at the low end.

I use my Benchmade every single day. It's held up great. I have never bought a knife to sit in a drawer...

Yeah I just can't bring myself to spending this kind of money on a pocket knife. My significant other bought me a custom engraved Spyderco. Long story short, I found out it was $300, and it's now used from when I go grocery shopping or out to eat. I named it the pig stabber! In all fairness, it is the sharpest knife I've ever owned after leather strap honing it.
