I like that they didn't explain the backstory, they left the cause of the war open to interpretation.

this is one of the few good things I have to say about the film, and I say this as a fan of alex garland. that said, I don't think the songs fit the film very well, so even that was a bit of a miss

I watched this. I thought it was ok. Definitely don't plan to own it, let alone even rewatch it.

I think they marketed it poorly: The trailer set expectations that the film didn't deliver. that doesn't make the movie inherently bad, but it did make it disappointing to some audiences.
