Edit: I just did the math and the two that stand out for price on calorie are: the cheesy bean and rice burrito and the spicy potato soft taco. But it would be a waste since I would think one would want to get the most variety of ingredients from this deal. Not only that, someone would want to try the new menu items that just came back because of the decades menu. If it is a buy one get one, Taco Bell is just going to make one pay the higher price anyway and so one may just want to buy the same item. So to fit the most variety, a reasonable price to pay for two items, and the best calories....hm...
Edit edit: I am getting that the item that fits all of the above is the cheesy double beef burrito. It has 6 ingredients, 560 calories, and is priced at only $2.79.

In my case I would rather spend less for more variety.
You could get way more (2x) calories on the bogo item I suggested, but you are right. Taco bell seems to price all their items awkwardly, especially on items with similar ingredients mixes. It would be whether you want to pay the extra $2.21 and get more variety or stick with the item recommended for the bogo. To each their own.
I am not just saving $2.79; I am only paying $2.79+tax for two items.
Taco bell has Happy Happy hour 2-5pm drinks are $1 or a bit more. Good for trying out their freezes or if you aren't buying a box with a drink. Coz normal drinks are a rip off like $3 normally and freezes are like $4.
I think all of the drinks, unless bought during happy hour, are a ripoff. Moreso, the freezes because they are mostly ice and syrup and when either of those two get low, it is just water.
Bowl is healthier, but I like calories because I at least feel full and that is how I judge how I pay for things. I could eat the whole bowl and still feel hungry.If I am getting double the calories for nearly half the price, it helps. I can even portion size the burrito. Eat 750 and save 250 calories for later.
