Usually only takes buying a cheap air hose once to learn your lesson.
I'm pretty sure this is aluminum. If so, avoid at all costs. I had one shoot off the hose inches from my face and put a dent in the ceiling.

Is Brass the best material for these connections?

True. I've had cheap hoses explode in my hand. That was a bit painful.

Brass fittings is commonly found at big box stores but they do have stainless steel versions as well. I don't think I've ever seen it in store.

I have this. It's not high quality stuff but it's definitely worth $6.98. The hose and fitting don't even leak for me. The reason it's cheap is the hose is only rated to 135 psi.

It's a good buy. Just don't compare it to the craftsman or DeWalt sets you will see in the same store.

The description says solid brass ends on the hose and steel for the fittings.

I thought this was the new normal price when I picked this up after BF. I have a good rubber hose and just use the compressor for tires and blowing off a work area or lawnmower.
