You are experiencing the infamous SW bug that was plaguing all the 2021 PAC AVRs until recently. The only difference is that those AVRs that were getting DLBM/DLBC via recent firmware had the bug fixed (i.e. RZ50 and DRX 5.4). There's a workaround here:
https://www.avsforum.com/posts/61244181/

Hopefully, that post gets you closer to what you expect! It's not a clean fix like the next tier up AVRs but at least it has been seen and addressed by others!
I bought this when the last deal was posted. I'm new to Dirac Live and it's been a confusing experience coming from Audyssey. The mobile app is buggy and constantly disconnects. I only had success using it with a laptop. I did numerous measurements on numerous volumes and still can't get any bass coming from my sub. Dialogue is hard to hear. I have to raise the center channel +10 to hear anything. Dirac always sets it at -2. There doesn't seem to be a dynamic volume option like I had on my Denon S750H which is kind of a bummer. That came in handy for listening at low volumes. The night mode on the Integra doesn't seem to do anything. Minor gripe, the front display only shows what input it's on, not what sound format is being played. Maybe I need to tinker with it more but I've been underwhelmed by it so far.
In my opinion the laptop is the way it should be done

Sounds like you didnt set your speaker configuration BEFORE you ran Dirac
On some brands this will give you an immediate error message though I dont know if that is the way the Integra/Onkyo units perform and if it will let you go forward
I knew this part from the Arcam set up and just did it out of habit when I set up my RZ50

Dirac is not as initiative as the Asian room correction systems
But after you do it once its not that bad and the good news, IMO, is that it doesnt need to be tweaked constantly like I personally had to do with Audyssey

Fortunately, I bought my first Dirac equipped unit from an independent dealer who stepped me through the process

As for this display you mention you have to buy higher up in the model line for that feature.

I'm not who you are replying to, but one thing to note is that the RZ50 only outputs the same signal to both LFE outs (they're not independently EQable). That really limits what DLBC can do for multi-sub setups.

Yes, which is why I specifically recommended the big brother RZ70/805/DRX 8.4 line of receivers over even the RZ50 for Dirac.

Note that this is not a Dirac problem but how PAC teased w/the promise of "free Dirac" w/o the full DLBM/DLBC functionality for multi-sub setups! Even the latest firmware has been hit by a DLBM/DLBC bug that has not been squashed in nearly 3 months to the day!

I have had this Integra 3.4 for 2 mos. Its decent by itself but set expectations low. When you add some external amps + mini dsp (if you dual subwoofer) its a powerhouse. I only use it for processing with my 5.4.2 setup. Was underwhelmed
at first, but cheap dirac + 5yr warranty great buy if you plan to use with external amps.

Thanks so much for the replies. I totally agree with both.

For me the Onkyo is a bit more future proof than the Integra although I'm unlikely to run an 11.2 system in the future. I currently have a 5.1.2 set up with easy to drive bookshelf speakers.

I'd probably never add on bass control, etc. Just sticking with a single sub for the foreseeable future.

Speaking from experience, and sound quality wise, I know the best thing would be to buy the Integra and add a good quality 5 channel external amplifier with the $220 saved. I used to have a 5 channel Rotel amp and that thing was an absolute beast. I rarely listen very loud anymore however and something of that nature ( like an Emotiva) would be way overkill.

I'd like to stay married if possible lol.

Maybe that larger power supply on the RZ 50 is enough to circumvent having to add an external amp later on ( other than a 2 channel to power it as an 11.2 system).

The extra 2 year Integra warranty is very nice to have however given the problems with HDMI boards, etc.

Decisions, decisions..
Sounds to me like you can use the Integra. Nothing you mentioned justifies the Onkyo for your use. Even the difference in wattage will be unnoticeable.

I'll probably end up keeping the Integra mostly because of the outstanding price and the warranty. I have a couple more weeks to decide. If the price drops on the Onkyo another $80 to $100, I'll probably spring for that instead. I don't mind paying a little more for something I plan on keeping for a long time. I really like the THX Loudness mode (even if it can't be used with Dirac at the same time) and the larger chasis. Seems to me there should be around $100 price difference between the units, not $220. I don't know how they sell this Integra at this price without losing money.

Looks like you answered your own question, that is not a positive outlook on DLBC.
I believe you read that issue happened to those much higher priced AVRs.

Apparently you can get a lot of information on the internet!

You can help with your personal experience.
You have the 3800 and don't own DLBC, why?

How did I answer my own question if I wrote "this is not a Dirac problem"?

I'm still waiting for your source of where "most" don't think DLBC is needed.
Same place you found the "problem", the internet.
It's clearly not the "problem", you're a testament to that.
Why not explain why it isn't a benefit to you?

You run around in circles like a chicken w/o a head! The "problem" I've been referencing is the bug found in the latest firmware that prevents the RZ50, DRX 5.4, RZ70, 805, and DRX 8.4 from playing DLBM/DLBC properly (works fine on Denon/Marantz and other brands).

My original request to you was to give me the source for where
"Most people believe it's no benefit so not sure how much value it is anyways" [in reference to DLBC].

I don't represent "most people" and my preferences have nothing to do with you failing to present links and sources for where you get your skewed opinion! If you can't find any, simply go to one of your burner accounts on AVS, ASR, etc. (your choice as I'm feeling nice today) and post, "DLBC is no benefit". There! Problem solved! Wink

You answered your own question again, the internet.

You even gave a couple places to go, just read the last 3 years of post.
Heck you can do the same in here it would be about the same opinion.

I asked a direct question since you fall under this topic that DLBC is not required/no benefit.
It shouldn't be that hard to answer! 🤔

Anyways, apparently you know where to look, not sure why you keep asking.

I ordered mine a few days ago. I'll use the preouts, sending to five monitors and a sub. Already have a umik for my 2 channel setup. Hopefully this is all worthwhile. I haven't done 5.1 in decades, and it sucked back then.

I went with the rz50 for $750 because I like the look better and expected that the larger form factor would be better for hear dispersion. But I tend to keep my gear fit a while and if I'm going to be looking at this thing every day, it's worth the extra $$.

Haven't added an amp yet but I live in an apartment so...

Yes, but only 3.4 (3-valve) so just VTEC-E.

Um, yeah, decent price+point for preouts- are useful for those not letting go of their tube mono-amps or class A-B discrete MOSFET finals, esp. in the form of Hitachi TO-3 packaged matched pairs.

lol well proper setup hasn't changed and room correction has come a long way from back then.

Dirac has a bit of a learning curve, I would suggest following the calibration process video I posted earlier.

Yeah, the option to run external amps is fantastic for an easy next upgrade!
