US officials are saying TP Link devices have been compromised and were somehow a vector used in a recent hack.

They're considering banning them and have recommended everyone using them to stop.
I dunno. I've got 3 of these. debating and researching…

This is an AP, not a firewall - curious what the attack vector is for something behind a firewall? I have this AP behind a pFsense firewall.

anything/everything on your network has internet access, especially an access point relaying said internet access, and therefore it doesn't much matter whether it's a router or not?

and for nerds who blah blah blah good for you, we're talking about typical consumers here (?)

whether this is an active risk idk.. I wouldn't toss your hard earned gear on rumors and self righteousness in this greedy world Smilie

If you have an Amazon Prime Visa, there's a total of 15% off CB, bringing the price down to $64.60 after CB.

You people are really becoming annoying with your crying wolf.. I am going to need to keep this statement saved in a sticky note...

"Anyone that actually knows networking will tell you that article is a joke. TP-Link makes up more market share than all its competitors combined so yes they are going to have the MOST attempted attacks. What these articles only mention in passing the same vulnerabilities affect all the other major brands Asus /Netgear/Linksys/Synology its just their market share is so much smaller the impact is not felt as hard.

As for the ban I will believe it when I see it, they been talking about it for 3 years now, and its all just been blah blah blah its coming next year, next year, next year..... Also the ban is not because of vulnerabilities its because of supposed unfair price competitiveness. Boo Hoo whoever is in the pocket of manufactures cant sell their routers for $200 cause TP-Link is selling theirs for $100 and still making a profit so they are trying to make a stink..."

The product itself is a great product, I have setup multiple of these and the higher end ones for SMB and residential. The price is pretty average though its been hovering around $80 for over a year now with the occasional swings back to $100.
