Does this get hot? Worthspending a little more for metal non-plastic?

Great price but I agree with the metal casing. However, it's not a "little more" relatively. It will be over 2x more.

My grandpa burned his house down because he thought his modem was too old. Apparently the fire fighter concluded the source of fire is from overheated router/switch which was piled on top of modem. He then remembered he bought non-brand cheap switch less than a week before the fire. Beware, you get what you paid for.

I have an old plastic 8 port Linksys one and a 16 port metal TP Link. I can't say that the plastic one gets all that hot. Even when it was maxed out on my LAN. Unless you really need durability, plastic will probably be ok for home/home office use. What will likely matter a whole lot more is a known quality brand, rather than just plastic vs metal enclosure.

Thanks for the tp-link. It has 20% cash back offer for Amazon Prime card holders netting the switch for under $15 after cash back.

I use a usb powered laptop cooler to cool my router and modem. Never have a problem with overheating despite being in a stuffy closet
