I'm trying to ditch my current home security, Vivint. How does one go about making their own security system?

Just get a ring system and it integrates with all alexa devices to arm and disarm, cameras are good, not great but enough for most people.

$100/year though.

I bought them for $15 each in the past. So this is a deal. They are cheap but they do work. Mine detects motion from shadows and dust. So it's a bit sensitive…

Same deal I got this for in November. I use 1 to watch my 3D printer. I still prefer Eufy for the included rich notifications. These cameras are good where I don't need notifications.

I have two of these, one older C200, and a C120. I LOVE that Tapo supports RTSP/ONVIF. I stream my cams locally using Home Assistant, VLC, and tinyCam PRO.

My router is set to block my Tapo cameras from accessing the internet, and they work great as local-only cameras. The Tapo app still lets you access and change settings without them having internet access (👍). Wyze, on the other hand, seems to require your camera to be connected to the internet occasionally, if you want to change any camera settings (big 👎).

I tested these (along with a modded Wyze V3) to use as a baby monitor. My main interest was to be able to check if my baby is breathing. What I found was that despite being "2K", the C210 looked about the same as the C200.

The C120 (also 2K) initially looked better, and I liked the "invisible IR" lights. Unfortunately, when the video is enlarged/"zoomed in", the fine details look more "blobby" and less defined than the C200. This made looking for subtle signs of breathing more difficult.

I actually liked the wz_mini_hacked Wyze V3 the most, but it would drop connection periodically.

The parent company being investigated by the government is not a "political tirade", that should definitely give you some level of concern. Regardless, I think people should be suspicious of any device that connects to the internet.

I have this one, it's for indoor, it doesn't have the seals like C510W. Even if you mount it outdoor under a overhang or something, I can see dust being a problem in the long run.

The extra 20% shows up at checkout, you'll see it under each eligible item under "Additional reward details". Many other TP-Link security/camera products qualify for bonus cashback but in some cases, I'm only seeing 15% extra instead of 20% so doublecheck before you submit your orders.
