What happened if you care to explain? I just signed up with Verizon to get this deal and ported out immediately as soon as I got home.
Just ported out, so the Verizon account will be cancelled. Will see what kind of bill they send.
Pretty much everything I read online says they won't, but a few places (including the other thread here in SD) say they do 😕

Also is it going to be hard ssn check or soft?
You may terminate service for any reason. You will remain responsible for your Activation Fee unless you terminate service within 3 days of activation.
"You will also be responsible for all applicable usage fees, prorated access charges, taxes, surcharges or other charges that accrued to your account through the termination date."
ATT cancellation policy https://www.att.com/wireless/return-policy/ and then cosumer
"Service Cancellations within 14 Days. You may call us at 800-331-0500 to cancel wireless service. You are responsible for all applicable fees, prorated access charges, taxes, surcharges, or other charges through the termination date. AT&T will refund your activation fee, if any, if service is terminated within 3 days of activation. The charges for service used on the account before the service termination date may be applied against any down payment."
Both of them will charge prorated for days of use.
As per which one is better between vzw and att I can't say for sure. I have done these deals on ATT only and it's pretty easy to cancel over chat. I think the same is true for vzw. If you happen to have an existing account with them adding a line and then cancelling is the best way to do it. Both of them will send you a bill later on which you would need to chat with them again to void it.
