FYI, this is a retired set, retired last November. It retailed for $19.99 and right before it retired Lego had it on clearance for $11.99 before they sold out. The OP mentioned that Amazon sellers are marking this up >$28, which actually it's higher than that according to what I'm seeing.
Target and Walmart are clearing out their stock for $15.99. So this is your last chance to grab this set if you haven't already.

Aside from Lego's $11.99 clearance price (which probably wasn't available for very long if at all) the cheapest I've ever seen these go for was $15.19 + tax.

I got lucky on that $11.99 price via a Lego restock. As you stated it didn't last very long.
