Definitely something to consider, especially when the charger/ psu isn't included.

Great deal on a gaming laptop for just about any and every light to medium old school gamer. If your on the fence but dont have a large budget, dont waste your time deciding, just buy the thing already you will never find anything better new at $480. Your next best deal would be something with a 4050 for around $600 on heavy sale, than a RX7700S around $700, or currently $750 the Asus A16 but its over priced at $750 its been lower multiple times before so dont fall for the trap. The Asus A16 with the RX7700S has been the best deal in medium to high end gaming all last year and this year, nothing has been better so far.

Its a laptop, you can upgrade the RAM and the NVME drive, thats all which is the usual on laptops. No soldered components on this model last I checked.

"Excellent" open box is typically going to have all the accessories from what I've heard. Maybe not 100% of the time?

If a laptop has USB-C charging, I think I'd be more willing to gamble on the "Fair" option since I could get a generic charger in the worst case scenario.

This laptop doesn't seem to charge with the USBC on the right side. At least from the user manual https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-p...n-US-1.pdf (see page 12 in pdf). I've seen conflicting information online so I cant say 100%.
The USBC seems to support power-off charging where the laptop charges other devices even when laptop is off.
Note: on page 71 it does list USBC charging. So its confusing.

Can confirm. I purchased the "Excellent" option a month ago and it did come with all the accessories. However, it does NOT charge from the USB-C port on the right side.

The difference between excellent and fair is $29, if that's too much of a difference you shouldn't make a purchase like this to begin with.

The screen is pretty dim at 250 nits, but it is an IPS panel. I guess you could always plug it into an external monitor. I don't know about laptop gpus, but the desktop gtx 1080 is pretty comparable to the desktop rtx 3050. Maybe the GTX 1070 ti might be more comparable. Anyway I bet it will play almost anything at 60hz or better at 1080p which what the native display is. It looks like a solid consumer grade laptop. I would probably upgrade the ram to 16gb. There is plenty of fun to be had with this whether it be new games or emulation. The 12450h single core scores over 3k on passmark.

Every black friday there is always a really sweet deal on $450 - $500 range. This year might be the RTX 4050 for around that price. However that just speculation and is still 8 months left for black friday. As we speak like you said, this is the best deal and will be hard to beat it.

From the user reviews, both the RAM and SSD are upgradeable.

It will run but it will not be optimal, as most people recommend an I7 for that. If you are using the paid version the hardware acceleration due to the graphics card will help a lot, but you will need to upgrade the ram to minimum 16GB to really work well on something like 4K video editing. I would just recommend going straight to 32gig and calling it a day.
