I wouldn't take a chance on this open box. It's a huge monitor and the chance of issues, plus Samsung support challenges would make it a no-go for me. I purchased it new (for 650 with 100 dollar gift card for Best Buy pickup) and am not that happy with it in general, but even trying to get it out of the box you could easily mess it up. It also lacks features if you plan to use it as dual monitor.

This is a decent monitor and reviews on it are pretty good - the only issues I saw reported were the brightness being too low and only 1 Displayport input.

I would have to see it in person to decide if brightness is a concern for me. The only complaint I have on all of these Samsung monitors is they don't make them with a higher vertical resolution. Everything I have seen is 1440 and I need 1600 minimum for work stuff. Since I don't do dual monitor setups, I need every bit of real estate I can can on screen....

Make sure you keep that box if you bite on this. 3 months into my original purchase mine died with no warning and not having the box made the process a huge pain to get it replaced.

Yeah, mine arrived yesterday and worked great last night and looked absolutely amazing. When I went to turn it on this morning, I couldn't get it to come on. Apparently that black screen is a known issue with these. I'm boxing it up and sending it right back.

Use VESA certified high quality cables. This is often the cause of many problems with these monitors. Also make sure it has the latest firmware.

You're 100% right. My old monitor was running through HDMI on my av receiver. When I got this one and hooked it up, it came up as a generic monitor and wouldn't do anything over 3840x1440 or something. I hooked it up directly with my old HDMI cable and it went up up to 5120x1440, but only at 60hz. When I hooked it up directly to the provided dp cable, it finally came alive. I ended up running the HDMI cable to my receiver as well to continue getting sound.
