The hard to find and highly acclaimed D2 knife that is a clone of the Benchmade Bugout is available for shipping again at the same (non-sale) price of $9.97. The Benchmade Bugout has a list price of $180 and while this is not exactly identical, it is similar enough that it receives generally great reviews. For $10, it's a great knife and that I can attest to.

To those giving this a thumbs down, please have the courtesy to explain your reasoning- it's a great knife for $10, what are you expecting?

Its not rocket science. Its not a "deal" because it's at its original price.

Anyone have a good way of getting the black paint off the blade? After trying and failing using acetone and paint thinner, I did the tedious method of using a Dremel wire brush.

I like the gunmetal look of the D2 without black paint on it, but if anyone has tips, lmk!

I think this is a good blade for the money but sounds like time spent could've bought you the real benchmade

I know it's a cheap knife, but this is a bad idea. The coating protects the blade from corrosion, so you're just drastically shortening its life.

You're right if you use your knife near water or camping regularly.

For my use case as an EDC for opening boxes, etc around the house, I've never had bare D2 rust on any of my knives. Like I said it looks pretty cool once the paint is off, and you don't get scuffs on the paint that end up looking bad over time. There are trade offs with or without paint...

I have a few of these. Tried to use one last night to widdle down the corners on a quarter inch square wooden dowel. Couldn't do the job. Grabbed my ryobi knife that cost $1 more and didnt have any issues.

Got one and it feels like a $10 knife and the open/close mechanism functions like a $10 knife. Over hyped in my opinion.

Just use it regularly and the paint will wear off Smilie

Bought a couple of these last time when they were 6.99. Agreed with all here, great knife for the price. Good mechanism and holds an edge decently. You really can't do better for this price.

Bought one a few months back for an EDC. Honestly, the blade holds an edge better than my mid tier Kershaw though I do miss the assisted open. For a beater knife that opens a dozen boxes a day minimum, it's hard to beat. Bought a couple for the bugout bags as well.
