They are now part of Klipsch/Voxx international and produce many cheaply made products along with some decent ones.
Voxx (yes Audiovox) ownes over 30 brands now. Like most companies most stuff is Chinese made and imported.
I'm sure for $120 these are completely fine but they likely aren't great speakers in the broader sense. Just a guess though.
That $380msrp is likely not going to fly far. Much more likely these are $189 equivalent speakers on sale for $119

FYI, Magnat is a very old German hifi company that made components for some really good speaker companies over the years, specifically ADS and Dahlquist.

Can't speak to their current state, but they are a well-known name vintage hi-fi

I did a bit of research and from what I can tell they were released in 2020 for 380 and they were well reviewed as $380 speakers.

I bought them for my PC. I am excited about the digital optical audio connection (it was a game changer for my stereo I finally got rid of my groundloop hiss)

Hmm. $119.00 today to purchase outright, or $64/month for 6-months special financing. Decisions, decisions 🤔

I'm glad they are working out & yah an optical input is nice. $120 is pretty cheap for any decent powered set.

That said. Pretty much everything has good reviews somewhere, especially given many reviews are fake or paid reviews and many others are produced by people with little experience or little interest in really determining the value proposition. They would rather just promote unless an item is pure crap.

If the budget is $120 then I'm sure they are completely fine or even great for $120.These surly are fine for PC speakers or casual/modest home music enjoyment or to beef up a TV vs a budget sound bar.

While these are only $120 today
I am certain comparable price range, equivalent quality would be found when you cross shop these with speakers with MSRPs like
$180 NEUMI BS5P-ARC
$150ish most any Edifer in the $150-200 range
HiVi-Swans has a couple likely comparable models @ and below $200
The $250 Fluance Ai41 sometimes goes for $199, it is likely a better speaker. I'm not saying it is worth double the price though.
Well so all of these are more than $120 but my point was more about that inflated Magnat MSPR.

Another option. Personally I'd go with real science based engineering in the JBL 305p when on sale as they run around $200a pair on sale (not as user friendly though being studio style monitors and if you wanted optical to break a ground loop you would need an external DAC to receive the optical and then to feed them)

Well anyway who cares what I think, for $120 I suppose folks ought to try them. I don't think returns are free though so factor that in.

Here is a German review (likely the one you found) they def liked them.

There's no way these were released in 2000. They have Bluetooth 4.1.

Ah, that makes more sense. I have a complete Magnat surround system and love it. I wish I had a use for these, I'd probably pick them up as well.

It is the new "Google" you can continue to use altavista crawler but one day day you will look around and your grandma will be telling you about the recipe she got from "the ai" .

Who cares if it is AI as long as the information is factual and aggregates real stats when comparing. I trust the computer comparing number rather than human *thinks* something is good or bad. Factual is course the main focus. Some shifty AI pull reddit comment as facts
