EDIT ---- Use Code "FIVEOFF" (anything over $50, I think) to bring the price down to $128.98. Not sure if that's a YMMV depending on whether you've already used it or not.

I think this is the lowest price I've ever seen on a brand new portable a/c unit of this size (12,000 BTU). Even refurbs usually aren't this cheap.
  • Powerful Cooling: With a 12,000 BTU cooling capacity, it delivers strong cooling for rooms up to 450 square feet.
  • 3 Functions in 1: Enjoy flexible cooling with 3 fan speeds and a dehumidifying Dry Mode, perfect for comfort and moisture reduction on rainy days.
  • Maximum Usability: Operate with LED display and simple control panel, or use the full-featured remote without leaving your bed, workspace, or couch.
  • Programmable Settings: 24-Hour Timer customizes times to fit your schedule for immediate comfort, while the Sleep Mode offers maximum comfort and quiet operation throughout the evening hours.
  • Included Accessories: Effortlessly install in double hung or sliding windows with the provided window installation kit. The washable filter, included for easy access and cleaning, effectively captures dust from the air, ensuring your AC operates efficiently.

Single hose only for this brand. It uses the air it just cooled to heat up on the condenser, then creates a vacuum with one hose out, and one house totally missing, so it pulls in more hot air from outside. I usually expect 1/3 of rated cooling on >100° days. So, 4,000 BTU with extremely high power consumption!

The most basic is the single-hose design, which uses a compressor to power the cooling system and remove heat from the room's air. Single-hose units pull air from within the room and expel warmed air and moisture outside. This can create "negative air pressure" because air is constantly being pushed out of the room, and as a result, the air in the room has to be replaced. Subsequently; warm air seeps in around doorways, and through structural cracks and holes, attempting to replace the "missing" air.

So two hose units are more better?

Don't believe people, a really good single hose will outperform a bad dual hose. Not saying this is good, the reviews are kind of poor. I have both single and dual hose and my older single hose works perfect in my bedroom. Most of the complaints are theoretical and not what happens in most houses.

I have a 6 year old single hose LG unit which does a great job. It better. I think I spent $400/500 bucks! I didn't know about single/dual hose at the time. But our bedroom, also over the garage, is blazing in the summer. It does a good job. Single hose isn't a deal breaker, but I checked reviews and found something that was highly rated. I'd almost take a gamble one this, at this price. But you can find a better performing window unit for cheaper...

Get a Midea window unit where you can close the window 80% of the way, if you have compatible windows. So much lighter than the dinosaurs I replaced, and so much more efficient/quiet. Obviously going to cost more than this, but they do come down on sale, waiting for another 12K myself. Window units are more efficient in general, should really only get portable if the form factor of your windows prohibit it, or if you are incapable of the installation. I was about to swear off window units because mine were 100 lbs until upgrading.
