I wouldn't feed middle aged to older cats this routinely due to kidney issues can become an problem as they age, same as with humans.

One of the sites' newsletters I follow is cats.com. One thing also to be aware of is that pet food brands are known for changing up ingredients without telling the world. Also check the source of where the pet food is made and coming from. In the all in all, cheaper pet foods can cause more issue, same as ppl. Garbage in, garbage out etc. Best bet is to research whatever foods you use and keep up with recalls as well as ingredients and sources. All these variables can/may change at times. Also I forgot to add even the different styles of the same cat food have differing counts of %'s of ingredients. Meaning shreds vs pate vs gravy styled etc.
