Unless eggshell membrane collagen is different in composition than bovine or marine collagen, then it is a "fake" protein, in that it's counted in the nutritional panel (the "23g of protein"), however it's missing key amino acids so that it's not really considered protein.

Incomplete protein is still protein.
And, if combined with other protein sources, it becomes a complete protein.
I don't buy that there is anything special about eggshell collagen, but this product has whey, so it's gonna be a complete protein.

Technically true, but mostly disagree with that. Proteins are made of ratios of amino acids. And some are used in muscle building, especially leucine. While it's true collagen is only truly missing one of the amino acids, tryptophan, it's also quite low in leucine. While it's probably true you are making a "complete protein" by consuming whey alongside collagen, you still can't make more amino acids out of thin air. You're just taking it from one pile and moving it to the other pile. So now you're still off in the ratios you need/want for muscle building.

They publish their amino profile, and it's fine.
My guess is that the eggshell collagen is just trace amounts and mostly marketing hype, trying to sell a reason this is worth a higher price than plain whey protein.
Most vendors do that - I call them "foo foo" protein - add features that do little to nothing, but they can hype.

I've tried to make grass fed butter at home. The process didn't go well - the butter refused to eat.
