Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.

Hmmm, I have the sapphire preferred. Can I downgrade to the free Saphire and still keep my points? (I hadn't known there was a free Saphire)

I am not a churning pro, so I defer to the experts. In my limited experience I was locked in at the point I took the deal.
Best time is probably when your 1 year annual fee posts then call or send SM to do the product change.
