$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.
Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.
Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.
Any 0% apr period on this?
Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.
The offer is supposed to be available online starting 04/03.
Nope- you can only have 1 sapphire (of any type) open at once, and can't get a sapphire bonus at all if you received one in the last 48 months.
Current referral links are still only offering 60k--- rumors on reddit that 100k referrals for individuals will be live next week (8th was what I read)

You can downgrade to Freedom Flex. It's a better card.
I think I've had that in the past but I'm not one who is going to keep up with categories... Unless I am meeting a spend requirement for a bonus, I usually just use my Wells Fargo card that gives me 2% back on everything.
For the Chase card, I just want to be sure I can downgrade and keep my points and still use them on the travel portal for an extra bonus at times.
Question. Looks like I opened Chase Sapphire Preferred in March 2021. I downgrade it last week to Freedom Unlimited. Am I eligible for this? It seems like exactly 48 months since I opened Preferred.
It's 48 months from when you received your bonus, not from when you opened the card. It's unlikely that you received your bonus on April 3rd 2021, so you're not eligible.

Flex or freedom unlimited. You'll keep the points and can transfer in-between the cards whenever.

Looks like I got the Bonus Points on May 19 statement. Looks like I will be eligible after May 19
Yes, after 1 year you can make the product change.
Best time is probably when your 1 year annual fee posts then call or send SM to do the product change.
Interesting, so if I plan on redeeming points for travel within 1 year then this Preferred offer seems to be the better deal, right?
Preferred = 100 K points at 25% bonus = $1250 of travel credit
Sapphire = 60K at 50% bonus = $900 of travel credit
There's obviously other differences in the cards, but for the sake of argument let's say the $300 extra in annual fees on the Sapphire evens those out
OP's link is legit (the deal you are posting used a hacked link)
Use OP's link
IMO hold off until the 100,000 referral link goes live
OP's deal is not a repost
I am relatively new to credit cards.
Why are you waiting for the referral link? My understanding is the referrer will earn some points and he/she might be willing to send you some money, for example, $50.
Besides the above, what are the benefits of using the referral link? Will using the referral link increase the probability of getting approved of your application?

Can you upgrade it immediately after receiving bonus points?

If husband/wife for example has the card for example, they can refer you. No other benefit.
