$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.
Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.
Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.
Any 0% apr period on this?
Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.
The offer is supposed to be available online starting 04/03.
Nope- you can only have 1 sapphire (of any type) open at once, and can't get a sapphire bonus at all if you received one in the last 48 months.
Current referral links are still only offering 60k--- rumors on reddit that 100k referrals for individuals will be live next week (8th was what I read)

Note you can get much better value transferring the points to airline or hotel partners... for example transfers to Hyatt typically yield 2-2.5 cents a point in cash equivalent value.
For airline transfers if you're doing premium bookings (ie business or first) you can often get 4-6 cents a point or more... (coach is more variable but many flights you can still get in the 2-2.5 cent range via transfers rather than the 1.25-1.5 in the portal).
Note the airline transfer thing will require a little bit of research on your part to max value, and a bit more flexibility in your schedule- so the value for coach fares might be YMMV, but it's pretty massive for business class (and it's easily better, with little to no extra work or schedule concerns, for Hyatt)
See above- redeeming via the portal is usually the worst value compared to transfers.
While there's no official 100k referral today-- but in theory you can use a lower referral then after approval PM Chase to ask them to match the 100k offer-- Chase generally matches higher offers within 30 days and there's many reports of them already doing this in this 100k case-- but if you don't want to risk it wait till the 8th and see if the rumors about a "real" 100k referral going live then are true.
Yes, both reserve and preferred holders can generate referral links that let the recipient apply for either card.
No- it's 48 months from when you received your last Sapphire sign up bonus
So if I signed up in October 2020, got the bonus in Feb 2021, closed/downgraded out account in October 2021, I still qualify?
Tried to apply in branch. Got rejected because my spouse received a Sapphire signup bonus 45 months ago. I was not an authorized user on my spouse's card. They can't find a workaround.
Does anyone know if you need to wait the entire 3 month period to receive the SUB points?
What if you hit the 5K spend in the first month? Do the SUB points show up after that billing cycle? Or you still need to wait the three months regardless?

Yes to they show up next billing cycle after spend.
Check the date you got the card itself. You can see that on one of your credit reports. (Experian app is free to use and shows all your card dates.)
Then calculate 3 months from when you got the card. 6 months to be extra safe, in case you had taken the higher offer they sometimes give for higher spend in 6 months instead of 3.
Does it show type of chase card since i have different type of chase card
Let's assume I reach 5K spend with 3 big purchases and got the 100K welcome bonus points. Now if I end up returning one of the big purchase that helped reach 5K, would chase claw back the welcome bonus or only the points that I received for that purchase will be taken back and I still keep the 100K welcome bonus. Anyone with similar experience in past?
Downgraded from CSP to Freedom with UR on 3/29 and reapplied when it showed as an option in the app which was today (4/4) and was approved immediately.

When was your renewal? How long have you had the card previously? Sounds like you qualify for the card now but is it guaranteed on the bonus? Wondering if I want to do the same.
I think this card is good if you have a ton of points sitting there as it can be then transferred to Hyatt or other travel partner; however, it offers quite limited way to accumulate points quickly.

What? It doesn't say that in the terms anywhere...
So if I get this card and meet the threshold of $5k in spending and want to just redeem the $100k bonus reward points as a statement credit, it would translate to roughly $800 since I'm not redeeming it for some sort of travel?
