$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.
Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.
Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.
Any 0% apr period on this?
Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.
The offer is supposed to be available online starting 04/03.
Nope- you can only have 1 sapphire (of any type) open at once, and can't get a sapphire bonus at all if you received one in the last 48 months.
Current referral links are still only offering 60k--- rumors on reddit that 100k referrals for individuals will be live next week (8th was what I read)

i got the sapphire preferred back in 2020, got the bonus, and at some point downgraded to freedom unlimited.
now that i'm doing the bonus again, should i downgrade or cancel this second card after a year?
If by "this second card" you mean a new Sapphire Preferred card that you're applying for this time around, yes, once the 1 year passes and the next annual fee posts, you have the option to either cancel the card or downgrade it to either a Freedom Flex, or, in your case, a second Freedom Unlimited card.
The choice is yours, depending on if you have already have a Freedom Flex or not; if you don't, I'd suggest downgrading to the Freedom Unlimited, so that you'd still be eligible for a bonus for the Freedom Flex should you choose to apply for it later on. (Because if you already have a card, and later apply for another of it, you won't be eligible for a bonus.)
You can have more than one Freedom card- in fact doing so gives you a second $1500 quarterly 5x cap which is nice for certain categories where category gift cards let you extend the quarterly 5x to future quarters if you wouldn't normally max it on all your freedom cards organically in a single quarter.
This is correct. But the benefit is limited to only points transfers. The points benefit is similar across cards and that is not the issue I am talking about. Other than the points there is no tangible benefits with Chase, compared to Venture X. You can go o the site for exact benefits of Venture X, but as I said before some notable ones are
1. Price drop protection for flights
2. $300 annual travel credit, that is directly available at the time of booking
3. Cover the TSAPre/GE fees every 4 years
4. 10,000 bonus points added to your account every year
5. Priority pass membership for primary of authorized users with unlimited access to lounges across globe (that allows each membership to take 2 guests in addition with you).
Venture X charges a fee of $395 that gets covered with $300 travel credit and 10,00 bonus points every year, making it technically no fee card.
Yeah but you're comparing Chases mid-tier card ($95 AF) with Cap Ones high-tier card ($395 AF).
The correct chase card to compare is the Sapphire Reserve- high AF that can be profitable above the fee if you use all the credits and benefits, just like the Cap One high tier card- and what frequent travellers should be product changing this mid-tier Chase card into after 1 year..... CSP isn't a card that makes much sense for someone to keep year over year beyond the signup bonus, CSR can be though.
Plus, going back to point transfers (so this applies to either chase card vs the cap one) the list of transfer partners is better for Chase (though specific individuals may or may not be able to get the extra value depending on their available airlines local to them, their travel habits, etc)
Called local branch and was told they don't waive the first annual fee, so signed up online and got approved right away, called to speed up the shipping for next day delivery, also said they don't waive first annual fee as well
is there a # to call about application status? signed up for my wife via one of these affiliate links when it went live on 3/3. got the "we'll get back to you" message.
which is annoying because i then realized within her chase account, she already had a pre-approved csp link to click and accept, now updated with the 100k points offer. i don't understand how she can be pre-approved for the card, sign up for it, and then not get approved instantly.
Need help. I had chase sapphire reserve card ($550 AF) opened in 2018. I downgraded to chase sapphire no fee card in 2022. I have credit limit of $62000.
I went to Branch to open chase sapphire preferred but Rep told me i can only have one sapphire card for bonus. He told me to cancel my chase sapphire reserve card and reapply in 30 days.
My questions are,
If I cancel my chase sapphire reserve card (62k limit), whats the hit on my credit
I don't have any other chase cards. I see that changing to freedom might work but i will NOT avail freedom $250 bonus.

I've never used door dash, so I didn't count that. Not a cash award, and not valuable to everyone.
Looks like they've upped the requirements a bit.
