$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.
Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.
Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.
Any 0% apr period on this?
Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.
The offer is supposed to be available online starting 04/03.
Nope- you can only have 1 sapphire (of any type) open at once, and can't get a sapphire bonus at all if you received one in the last 48 months.

I applied the card last Thursday. My credit score is >790. I got the email saying the application is being reviewed. I talked to branch people and they told me to call Chase Lending. After calling and uploading verification documents on Tuesday, I called them again today and they told me to wait another 1-2 weeks to know the decision, if approved, I will get the card, if denied, I will get the letter for the reason. I saw people got the decisions instantly through email, dont know why I have to wait for physical mail. What is the chance that I will get approved?
I applied last Friday and got the review. They called me on Saturday to confirm the application was legit and came from me. I answered their questions, they didn't ask for any docs and They didn't give me an answer over the phone. Basically told me I have to wait just like they told you. First time seeing this so I am a bit confused and wondering why it is taking so long for a decision.
These experiences for people with excellent credit and not being churners is just bizarre.
Applied for my wife who was "pre-approved" through her Chase login and account information. She has 800+ credit. been a Chase customer for 20 years. Yet it gets held up for "potential fraud". Call the # they give which just takes us to credit department. They try "processing" her application but doesn't work, she needs to upload additional verification documentation. Never mind the she's been a customer for 20 years and pre-approved part. Now we wait weeks to get approval in the mail? What the hell is this Chase? This should been an approved in 30 seconds application.
I currently have a Sapphire and Freedom Unlimited. In order for me to apply for this card I have to downgrade to Freedom Flex first, wait a week and then apply for this card? Then before the 2nd year annual fee hits I can then downgrade CSP to another Freedom Unlimited or Freedom Flex? Is it OK to have two of the same product at the same time? Also is it possible to switch back to the regular Sapphire from a Freedom card or not?
you should wait 14-15 days at least. I downgraded 04/02/25. you have to wait for it to update your credit report or else, credit report inquiry will think you still have it.

Which card did you have that you downgraded from and to which card did downgrade to?
So right now I should downgrade my regular Sapphire to either the Flex or Unlimited and then wait like 5 business days and apply for the CSP. Then after the 2nd year begins and AF is posted then downgrade the CSP to either the Flex or Unlimited. So by next year I could have 3 Chase cards all being Freedom Unlimited then. Lol.
No reason to have more than one Freedom Unlimited- each one has no practical spending cap and offers 1.5x UR points, so more than one is pointless.
There IS reason to have multiple freedom or freedom flex cards though, as they only earn 5x UR in the quarterly categories up to $1500 of spend in a quarter... so having a second gives you a second $1500 5x earning cap... (or a third with 3 of em).
Which is useful for things like moving spending between quarters... for example if they're doing wholesale clubs one quarter, but you don't spend 3k in a single quarter at Costco, you use your two Freedom cards to buy $3000 in Costco gift cards... then use them in future quarters when you otherwise can't do better than like 2-3.5% on other cards.
Can do the same thing with grocery gift cards, gas gift cards, etc in their respective quarters.
I've got 2 regular freedom cards (one was a CSP many years ago), and just downgraded my CSR to a Freedom Flex so I can get the 100k offer on CSP- so I'm at 3 5x Freedom cards plus one unlimited..... (and an ink cash for 5x on other stuff, plus one IHG for the free night, status, and 4th night free... and one each Marriott biz and personal cards for the free annual nights and 30 elite nights annually)- so this new CSP will be my 9th active chase card.

Taking over a week for card to arrive, only so many places taking Google pay.
if you call right after approval and ask they'll expedite it 2nd day delivery
How did it come in? blank envelope or was it a chase envelope? I'm about a week in as well.
I been using it on Apple Pay for now, but need it before tax doomsday to pay lol
Chase is freakin ridiculous, I applied April 3 and wont get my card until April 15. Are they going to give me two weeks extra to spend the $5k? I've never had a new credit card take more than like 4 days
Approved about a week ago, still no sign of the card.
That said, the day following the initial approval, card was available to load to Apple Pay. Very smooth process and was able to begin purchasing online and taping the card at merchants.
