This 20-core CPU alone is bringing $300+. DDR4 RAM on this one, so not the current DDR5 spec. Low cost high performance desktop option for a budget conscious power user, and the lowest price by far ever posted here for an i7-14700 equipped desktop. Looks to be missing USB-C, which may be a deal breaker for some. Comprehensive specs are posted on Best Buy's website:

-is the bios/firmware updated to remediate the problem with 13th/14th gen Intel cpus?
-when was the bios/firmware updated?
-and how heavily was it used before the update?
also, how is the cooling? traditionally these HP's in this formfactor don't have the best airflow and cooling. the i7-14700 may be baking like a potato in this setup.

This probably isn't a bad product, but I am struggling to figure out for whom this might be a good value at this price.

The 90 days is a long enough shakedown period to get all your software and files loaded and put some serious use on it. If there are no issues in that period you're probably good for years if you give it some stable power and surge protection. My guess would be less than 2% failure rate within the first 5 years. Before spinning drives were replaced with SSDs I would have projected failure rate at 15-20% in the first 5 years, with the vast majority of that being drive failures.
Those who want to spend a little more and get the longer warranty, I totally get it. I repair my own stuff so I pocket that extended warranty money as it's not a good investment in my case. It's also worth mentioning that every time you buy an extended warranty somebody makes a fat profit, which should tell you the value you're getting.
