What concerning cons are we exactly talking about here?
"Middling battery life"? - It's a 5080 240Hz OLED gaming laptop, why would you expect it to have a long-lasting battery life in the first place? The fact this could even last around 5 hours is decent enough, given the specs.
"Plastic build disappoints for the price"? - Keeping in mind the $3199 retail price tag, however this is $2699 we're talking about right now. Also, in the description the reviewer states "That's not to say the build or design here is poor." I am sure you didn't even bother to read the text and just copy pasted the link after just reading the summary at the beginning.
"Modest raw rendering gains over RTX 40 series models" - They tested and compared this with very selective laptops, one of which was an 18" Razor Blade with 4080 and it was this model that could beat the 5080 but only in a few instances. In other instances "the RTX 5080 generally outperformed the RTX 4080 and performed similarly to the RTX 4090, though the 4090 scored slightly higher in many cases." Again, the reviewer only said this about "raw rendering".
I would advise you to first read and understand the complete thing before you share it.

that second point about the plastic build............... you really just defended the plastic build because this is "MERELY" $2699?
that's some 'paid to say nice things about it online' kind of stretch

If you want everything in one machine, might as well buy a Razor Blade for $3500+.
Considering this literally has everything else you could ask for in a new gen gaming laptop for $2699, plastic built which isn't even poor is a small compromise in comparison that's completely acceptable.
If Microcenter or gigabyte was paying laymen like me, I'd have started my own deals website. Please, use some sense.

I'm not saying you're paid, in fact I thank you for all that you post. It's because of your posts that I got a crazy deal on an open box G16 Zephyrus 4060 last year.
But with all due respect, I don't know that the "if I was being paid, I'd have my own site" is really much of a proof point at all, as SD is by far the deal source, and anyone paying wouldn't want their $ going to rando site X over the marketing power SD has.
great find but a laptop like this spec should be $2300-2400.... this is overpriced even including the inflation of the next year... NVIDIA card are crazily expensive now and those OEMs are transferring the price to the customers... greedy Jensen. I hate monopoly man... hate useless amd, too

Brother the MSRP is $3200... It's not even that far away from the Razer you mentioned
This is just an upsale that got it's price corrected
After seeing this deal, I wanted to see any and all laptops with an OLED screen, gaming or not, and there's not option to sort by screen type. Resolution? Sure. Refresh rate? Yup. But not the panel type.
On Walmart's website, I can understand. But Microcenter and Best Buy have folks a tad bit more knowledgeable and they should allow filtering by the panel type.

While I agree their filters could be better, try typing laptop+OLED into the search bar and you should get the results you're looking for.

This may be a great price if you want a new laptop and don't want a 40 series. We appreciate your posts but just post the deal their is zero need to defend the manufacturer. Gigabyte is known for middling just OK laptops nothing special at all. I would wait for a Lenovo deal or a Razer deal over any Gigabyte deal.

Looks like the laptop 5080 is somewhere between a laptop 4090 and laptop 5090.

All right, I took a quick drive to store to see the difference. The 2699 one, has a raid zero configuration, so 1TB x 2.
The 2499 one, has a single drive 1TB.
I must've missed that on the website. But that solves the mystery.
