These things were 20 bucks for a while when they came out.

More now because you are paying for the "free" battery.

That dual temp 'is hot as hell. somehow I always manage to touch the glue. Its my fault I use dual temp because I'm impatient, I want the thing heat up quick. just be careful.

I don't ever remember seeing them for $20 when they came out, and i'm always on slickdeals and Homedepot website. Maybe the old style was $20 when the dual temp came out.

This is tool only and the offer is a free battery only. Bear in mind there isn't a charger included if you are not already in the Ryobi ecosystem.

Doesn't it still come out to $27.68 for the tool?

Am I missing something or the hack stopped working?

I would say both items are valued at $25. If you need it, grab the pair. Otherwise wait for better combos that meet your needs. 2ah are a dime a dozen. And the glue gun isn't that special other than it's in the ryobi system.

Both of these are hackable. Dual temp glue gun is under $40 when you return the "free" battery.

How about if I only want Battery? Is that hackable? If yes, how much will it be?

Yep. I paid $18. I have both the large and small (sits in cradle) models of the 18V, The glue sticks are cheap too. Wouldn't touch this for $60.

From personal experience, I do not recommend this glue gun for anything other than rough assembly/construction. Its too heavy, unbalanced and imprecise for detail work, even though mine came with multiple nozzles.

The grasping mechanism is far towards the rear of the gun so you by the time you're only halfway through the first stick you need to load up a 2nd one to be able to continue advancing the rest of the 1st stick. It doesn't grab the glue stick very tightly so no glue will come out until its fully softened, and there's no consistency in the rate at which glue is ejected. One trigger pull you could get a tiny drop and the next you could get a huge dollup, especially if you're using the lower temp setting and working quickly.

These aspects are common among your typical little corded glue guns from the dollar store, but I would expect better usability from something of this size and price.

You might be looking at the other $59 deal. I found a video where they compared both deals side by side, one was hackable, but the other deal for the same price was not hackable: https://youtu.be/aVIleBej358

It depends on which $59 deal you select. There are two similar deal, one is hackable, but one is not. Check out this video to see the difference: https://youtu.be/aVIleBej358
If you return the glue gun, then the battery is $32.29, but I think you can get them cheaper than that with other Ryobi Tool + Battery hacks. So if you just want the battery, I would wait. Hope that helps
