It's a Bluetooth speaker in an analog picture frame.
As others mentioned, this is an actual physical picture frame, not digital picture. So unless you are in the hunt for a fancy frame that is not digital but can play music, this isn't for you. Personally, I think this would be a slick frame to display your LPs in.
I normally like Samsung products but these things are kind of dumb. Mainly because it's overpriced for what it is. It's just a bluetooth speaker with a physical photo that you place in the front. Not sure if it's portable either since it requires a power cable and adapter.

Seems like a hefty speaker, though needing a 2024+ Samsung TV for Dolby Atmos via Q-Symphony is a bit of a bummer for those with older TVs.

The large discount so soon after release and it appearing on Woot! is somewhat of a concern, as it implies low sales and lack of long-term support, though I suppose the core functionality of a Bluetooth speaker will continue to function.

It's actually quite a good speaker. Samsung did a bad job marketing leaving people to assume it was digital frame, didn't promote any of the audio qualities... Worse, you can only use ONE with Samsung 990 sound bar which is ridiculous. However as aesthetic pleasing speaker in the right space, using stand alone or has a pair (without TV or sound bar) it's good, hence it's very niche market

This is probably aimed at people like my parents. My dad will buy decent wireless surround/bluetooth speakers and then my mom will insist on hiding them behind things and inside baskets that make them sound terrible.

The biggest risk is mounting on a wall, probably not optimal for sound distribution and not its primary acoustic design placement (plus, you need to hide the wire in the wall if you're not trash). Meanwhile it's way too obvious when sitting as-pictured, on its leaning stand: basically another geek gadget, not a work of art.

I have a q990d soundbar, and while its awesome, I was thinking maybe two of these on either side of the TV with some nice photos, you have saved me some money, thank you!

They probably would've sold like hot cakes if a pair could be added to Samsung soundbars. Only Samsung 2024 TVs can have 2 without a soundbar.

This was destined for failure as soon as they called it frame.

These have a lot of limitations. Be sure to research carefully on your desired use before you buy.

That's a dynamic soundbar with very clear sound and these frame speakers sound muffled with the picture frames on top of them.

Bought on launch day and its biggest limitations are what are marketed as core features:
1) its VERY heavy, so its somewhat unrealistic to think of this as a "Frame" Speaker (like the TVs) with the invisible cable feature.
2) Customizing requires third-party orders that basically print your photos on plates that then mount to this to act as a picture frame (cumbersome and not ideal)
3) Size, dont let the marketing shots fool you. While the sound quality is GREAT, this will fool no one into thinking this is a regular pic frame based on its size regardless of where in the home its placed. It will always look like a GIANT gadget unlike the TVs which "blend" in with home decor.
