worth it even with only with 3.5 years of security updates left? not criticizing, I'm honestly asking since I also would like to get it, but a quick search points out the very little years remaining of support. Considered putting something like lineageOS when support falls off, but I figured many of the useful pen features might not work if doing that

If you're using as a Kindle, then no. Not a great deal. If you're using it as a USB monitor, and/or DEX, the pen for annotating and drawing, as an emulation device which rivels $400+ devices due to the chipset and memory, all while having an incredible AMOLED screen? I absolutely agree, 80% of people would and should just get a Fire tablet and consume content. This isn't that. The S9 series is peak android gaming and emulation. This is a very fair price for the 11".

the 256GB version was $463 about 3 weeks ago. i see it creeping down... i wouldn't be surprised if it drops again soon

It's a great price..simple no other tablet 11" with OLED and near flagship SoC.

Hoping they resume making 11" next gen. The plus and ultra are just too big. I traded s8 ultra for this s9 and no regrets

If you can wait and assuming it's goes on sale, it also has more RAM. I need the storage more on my tablets than phones since it's I have much more media on tablets

There is no 11" S10 model, and the new S10 FE 11" is weaker than this S9. I was waiting on a deal for a smaller tablet for my wife, who didn't want something as big as my S10+. 3.5 years of security updates isn't that big of deal if she trade's up before then. She wanted something to learn digital painting and the S Pen is perfect for that

Yep, S-pen is the reason I want a samsung tablet and not an Ipad, The texture on the tip of the S-pen makes it so it feels like you are writing on paper, not glass. Wanting for an upgrade from the Tab S6 lite, which is really great in terms of the pen but the performance is soo bad with the 4 Gb of ram. I normally just rolled with it since I mostly just use the pen for writing, simple drawing and writing annotations on PDFs and pretty much no other features of the tablet, no multi-tasking, but as of recent even just moving around the home screen, app drawer or settings would make it glitch. Wish Amazon offered a trade in for the Tab S6 lite to get at least like a 100 or so off to make my decision easier

Yeah, for what you're looking for, I would wait for an S10+ deal from Samsung to trade in your S6 lite... Unless you want this smaller tablet size. S9 is the newest/best 11" from Samsung. I got my 512gb S10+ on a "Other Android Tablet" trade-in deal (bought a refurbished $50 Amazon Fire tablet, it was accepted) back in November for $463 pre-tax (military discount and first time order in the app stacked up).

S9 vs S9+ is screen size, that's it. If you're gonna knock s9, then youre knocking s9+ and s9 ultra
