Steel(?) made with plastic lol, made in China. Tonka sold out years ago imo and is no where near the quality it used to be when many of us were kids.

In our experience, they'll still be rusting away for more years than the kid actually played with them. Sorry, but I'm not going to take a $14 toy and store it for 30 years for the grandkids.

What has that got to do with the fact that it is cheap quality, made with plastic parts, made in China junk imo? That you don't want to keep it for 30 years is not really relevant. Does not change the lack of quality imo. You get what you pay for generally. They are trying to pass this off as similar to the products of many years past by referring to it as "Steel Classics", which it clearly is not.

But still probably better than 90% of the junk.

It has everything to do with the fact that it is $14 instead of $140. You get what you pay for generally. Kids destroy toys. Steel rusts once the paint is chipped. It's the adults who want to obsess over their quality and put them on a shelf to never play with. And yeah, marketing is marketing.

We had the real steel ones back in the 80's and they lasted at least until giving them to cousins in the 2000's. I lost track of them from there. These ones do have some steel, but they're mostly plastic and the steel is much thinner than the original. I didn't end up buying any of these since I have a personal comparison to the original and how solid they were.
Definitely not something for passing down through generations, but still fun toys to play with out in the dirt or sand.

So what you are saying is that if you aren't poor that you should overpay for something?
