Reddit r/mensfashion doesn't like them because they deem them too middle of the road i.e. not doing either function of dress shoe nor tennis shoe well. This is a good price for what they are.
I would also consider myself middle management, and I had the same idea of going business casual with these. But instead they made me look like I was a newly grad and trying to "look" professional. So yeah.. Not for me.

Was it easy to return?
Yeah just request return online and they will send you a return label. But really not worth it. IMO
