This comes down to 10.375/TB which is the lowest I have had, You normally don't even get used/refurbished off ebay for less than 11-12$/tb. This is great for my need to backup my backup.. and use it randombly.

That's correct because if it was for NAS you would be paying double or triple. But for something that you're going to dump into an external encase, or a docking station and run rsync to back up your backup and it's only going to be turned on for 3 hours once a week to do incremental backup should be okay...

Contact Seagate ASAP. I've had the replace drives just outside the window. Also check your credit card. Many extend the warranty.
