Yes, it does justify. It is nearly 15% more powerful than 185H in CPU performance, offers better integrated graphics, almost similar performance to 890M graphics and most importantly, it is lot more energy efficient. This is Intel Arrow Lake, 2 generation newer than Intel Meteor Lake, from which 185H belongs.

The model number, according to ASUS site, ending in "CA" is the 285H CPU. The model ending in "MA" is the 185H.

Staples shows it ending in "CA".

Don't think so based on the service manual [asus.com].

Hmm, is this with the new processor?Just FYI, this with the 185H processor has been $799 multiple of times. I wonder if the extra $100 justify this with just the new processor.
Yes, new processor. This one has a slightly lower resolution as well - I wonder why.
I would buy the 185H with 3.2K display but it's out of stock.

It's soldered so it's the only way to get more ram, so if you need 32gb, get that one.

Rabbit hole? 32GB is my absolute minimum for RAM on any laptop these days... Maybe I just multitask more than most.

FYI - My 4/16/2025, Asus Vivobook S 15 review on Best Buy:

I kept getting the Blue Screen of Death. The Geek Squad "FIXED it" THREE times, but shortly after I got it home, same thing, BSOD!
Sent it into the ASUS service center, and when I got it back 15 days later, got BSOD twice within 4 minutes. They said the warranty does not include any replacements or refunds.

I will never buy another ASUS product. And will avoid buying from Best Buy also.
